Fruman Jacobson

The partner in charge of Sonnenschein’s National Workout, Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice, Mr. Jacobson has extensive experience representing public and private creditors, debtors, creditors’ committees, prominent workout consultants/crisis managers, trustees, and other parties in connection with troubled companies and bankruptcy estates .
Mr. Jacobson has substantial experience in handling bankruptcy litigation and related litigation (including foreclosure, fraud, lender liability, and insurance coverage matters) in state and federal courts. In addition to handling legal aspects of troubled companies, Mr. Jacobson is highly experienced in counseling clients on related business issues such as restructurings, recapitalizations, and changes in management.

Mr. Jacobson has handled significant matters in many industries including retail, manufacturing, high-tech, service and others. In the United Airlines case, the largest airline bankruptcy ever filed, he headed the Sonnenschein team of experts who achieved unparalleled results for the unsecured creditors in airline reorganizations.

Mr. Jacobson lectures frequently on bankruptcy and insolvency issues to private groups and organizations including the Practicing Law Institute and various bar associations. He has been named one of the 68 leading restructuring, reorganization, insolvency and bankruptcy lawyers in the country. In addition to his experience in the area of workouts and bankruptcy, Mr. Jacobson has a significant background in general litigation and has taught trial advocacy for the Midwest Region of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy for a number of years. He is also a regular contributor to various publications.
